Sarah Stronach just finished an internship with Holly Stalder at Haunt, so she'll be one to watch, along with the other talented students of course.

In the aftermath of the Orlando mass shooting that made everyone simultaneously cry with sorrow and seethe with rage, Portland's annual Pride celebration this year will have new meaning. Yes, there will be partying, drinking, glitter, and whatnot; but this year will be a stark reminder of why we have Pride in the first place. It's for embracing and loving EVERYONE, no matter what gender they identify as or who they want to fuck. While there will be a lot of emotion surrounding the festivities, that does not mean we can't celebrate the wins of the LGBTQ community this past year and have some fun all while giving them the support they need.

I can't think of a more awesome way to start Pride Weekend than Flare-Portland Monthly's Annual Pride Kickoff Party. In years past it's been a big party with DJs (which it still will be with JD Samson, formally of Le Tigre, and hip hop artist & DJ Cazwell), but this year they are adding a fashion show to the event. The fashion show will feature four LGBTQ designers that include Wildfang, promising suits for all seasons; an ancient samurai inspired collection from Brady Lange; a retrospective of Bryce Black's most flamboyant runway hits; and a collection from trans rights activist V Throngrivong that will bring out the royalty. The event is a benefit for Basic Rights Oregon, Love Wins, and The Bus Project, so you can feel good about getting drunk and dancing your ass off. You can buy tickets here.
Zidell Yards, 3121 SW Moody, Thursday June 16, Fashion Show at 8 pm, Dancing at 9 pm, $15
