Tomorrow night, when Jovencio de la Paz's Skin Broken By Prisms at Carl & Sloan Contemporary, it will be the gallery's final show. From an email sent by Carl & Sloan promoting the show:
After much consideration, Carl & Sloan Contemporary has decided to close our doors at the end of July. To say goodbye, we are very proud to present Skin Broken by Prisms by Jovencio de la Paz as our last and final exhibition.
Founded by artists Calvin Ross Carl and Ashley Sloan, Carl & Sloan opened in the spring of last year in a space adjacent to Disjecta, with a focus on work from regional and national artists. Skin Broken By Prisms opens tomorrow, July 9, with a reception from 6-10 pm (stop in if you're hitting up Disjecta for Portland2016 Biennial openings). It ends July 24, and a closing reception is in the works. You should go see it while you can—de la Paz's textile-based pieces are well worth your time.
