I'm tired, after staying up past my bed time to watch Simone Biles crush an event I'd learned hours before she won. Worth it! Simones are absolutely crushing this year's games, and it's the best. Simone Manuel, a 20-year-old US swimmer, became the first African-American woman to medal in an individual swimming event yesterday. Simones!

(Oh, and apparently Michael Phelps just shattered the Olympic achievements set two millennia ago by Leonidas of Rhodes? That's cool too, I guess.)

Pssst. Wanna be sheriff? The job's up for the taking, and current Sheriff Dan Staton's out come Tuesday. Sure, you'll probably have to run against former Portland Police Chief Mike Reese, but what else do you have going on?

Portland Public Schools, still grappling with lead all over the place, is trying to find an interim superintendent. The Oapparently camped out in front of district offices, and spotted "former superintendents of Hillsboro, Newberg and Centennial, plus a former Portland deputy superintendent."

State Treasurer Ted Wheeler is prepping to become Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. He's tapping tens of thousands of dollars in contributions he's received since winning the mayor's office to hire a transition team. Downtown office space is being donated to Wheeler. It's good to be the incoming mayor.

It sounds so simple. Rising rents are ruining your life, so you build a cheap tiny house on wheels and post up, with full permission, on a parent's property. Nope! The City says you're an RV. You're moving to an RV park.

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance, formerly the state's largest bicycle advocacy organization, is no more. It's called The Street Trust now, and it's focusing on more than just bikes.

Southeast Portland's Precision Castparts is about to get the full Bullseye Glass treatment. The Oregon Health Authority says it'll study air and soil samples near the facility as part of a public health assessment.

Trump's still in trouble, and beginning to concede that he might not win the presidential election. He's praying for another Wikileaks release.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is beginning to concede that Republicans might not maintain control of the senate.

While we're talking about this, the NYT has an explainer on how Trump and Hillary Clinton's tax plans differ. Trump: "Middle-class Americans will get a small tax cut, wealthy Americans and businesses will get a huge tax cut, and the budget deficit will widen substantially unless there is the type of economic boom he promises..."Clinton: "Wealthy Americans will pay higher taxes, businesses will face tax rules that make it less advantageous to relocate overseas, and the money those changes produce will go to fund the rest of her policy agenda, from child care to roads, bridges and other infrastructure."

Four explosions rocked a Thai island popular with tourists over a period of 24 hours, killing at least four. The country is prepping for a holiday celebration. "Separatist insurgents" are the current suspects.

Hot child in the city. I'm headed to the wilderness for the weekend, y'all.
