We've written about resisting Trump by donating to crucial organizations, and things you can do now to not feel powerless in these tough times, but if you want to get to work, in person, and make your voice heard, check out the following protests, rallies, and community discussions happening around Portland in the upcoming weeks.

We're guessing more events of this kind are in progress, so keep checking back on this post for updates—and check out our resistance and rallies calendar for events later this month, next month, and into next year.

Thanksgiving Day Rally for Standing Rock
A Thanksgiving Day rally to show solidarity with members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their peaceful protest of the North Dakota Pipeline.
Nov 24, 9 am, Pioneer Courthouse Square

Not One Dime
Instead of running to the mall to take advantage of deals that aren’t that great, join Don’t Shoot Portland in protesting police brutality—specifically toward the mentally ill—in the Pearl District, where James Chasse Jr. was tragically beaten and killed by police in 2006. There will be protesting, but the event is primarily outreach for the houseless. Teressa Raiford says they’ll stage a “feed-in,” providing donated turkey sandwiches in plastic bags (a symbol for Chasse’s bread crumbs which cops called crack/cocaine), and they’re challenging local businesses and community members to donate warm weather clothing and sleeping bags. Not My President
Just a quick reminder in the middle of your holiday shopping that Donald Trump didn't get the popular vote, appointed a white supremacist as his chief strategist, and should be fought every day of his only term as president.
Nov 26, 6:30 pm, Pioneer Courthouse Square

Next Steps
Bernie Sanders supporters host a meeting and discussion to determine the best ways forward in the fight against a Trump presidency.
Nov 29, 7 pm, Watershed

Intersectionality: Election Impacts on Our Community
A special post-election Oregon Women's Health Network gathering that will focus on intersectionality and how to move forward together in the face of oppression. This event is currently at capacity, but interested individuals are encouraged to register here for more information on a follow-up event.
Dec 2, 8:30 pm, Kennedy School

Portland Women March Against Hate
Portland Women gather and stand together at Director Park to show the world that misogyny, misogynoir, racism, xenophobia, transmisogyny, transphobia, and hate of any kind will not be tolerated within the city.
Dec 3, 1 pm, Director Park

Inauguration Day Protest
An opportunity for you and other like-minded individuals to come together and send a message to the world at large that we will not stop opposing the harmful, destructive beliefs and behaviors embodied by President Trump and Vice President Pence on the day they take office.
